In addition to her broadcasting accomplishments, Cathy is a passionate advocate for wildlife conservation and global access to clean water. Over the past five years, she has traveled extensively across East and South Africa to support conservation initiatives and help raise critical funds—including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro to benefit the Mkomazi Rhino and Wild Dog
Sanctuary in Tanzania. She has attended three consecutive CITES Conferences of the Parties (CoP) in South Africa, Switzerland, and Panama, lending her storytelling expertise to awareness campaigns surrounding endangered species and international wildlife trade. Her commitment to environmental advocacy began years earlier when she reported from the Third World Water Forum in Istanbul, spotlighting the urgent global need for safe drinking water and sanitation.

An adventurer at heart, Cathy has journeyed to more than sixty countries as both a filmmaker and an explorer. Her experiences across diverse cultures, crises, and moments of triumph shape the depth and authenticity of her work, informing a storytelling style rooted in clarity, empathy, and real-world insight.

Cathy serves as a multi-year judge for the Sports Emmy Awards, contributing to fifteen award cycles, and sits on the boards of rattlethecage.org, a conservation and awareness organization, as well as North Lake Tahoe Snowfest, a nonprofit that produces more than fifty community events celebrating winter and supporting local causes.
